Finding Their True Home
There are many reasons to support the Westminster Communities Foundation. For Bob and Marcia Schleif, becoming legacy donors was an endorsement of how Westminster Communities of Florida has blessed them since they came to Point Pleasant in Bradenton eight years ago. The other reason is that they have self-sufficient children, allowing them to think broader with their estate planning.
For a couple that has moved as often as the Schleifs, eight years is a good stretch. It attests to what they have appreciated since moving to Bradenton: a beautiful 10th-floor apartment in the Shores building, connections with friends, a walkable city and chances to take up new activities like painting and yoga.
Raised in Illinois, the Schleifs spent much of their 61 married years moving for work. Bob is a mechanical engineer. Marcia, with her journalism degree, worked many years for Spiegel catalog. They lived in England and Colorado for many years and finally made it to Florida 20 years ago.
While originally living in Punta Gorda, the Schleifs were invited by some friends to make a move with them to a large senior community in Fort Myers. After consideration, they realized it wasn’t the lifestyle they wanted. “We would have been a lot more isolated,” Bob says. Instead, the Schleifs found Westminster Point Pleasant while searching the internet and worked with Leslie in the sales office to quickly get resettled in Bradenton.
At 86 and 83, respectively, Bob and Marcia are grateful for the health and fitness that have allowed them to keep growing. Art, in particular, has been a joy for the Schleifs, and they have helped see projects like the Art Gallery in the Shores building come to fruition.
Like the Schleifs, you can help impart joy in other Westminster residents’ lives. To find out how, contact Hyacinth L. Mayberry at 407-839-5050 ext. 227 or hmayberry@wservices.org.
